Mayor Degnan Announces his Mission for
the Town of Southeast
Candidate puts forth a platform that
offers a positive vision for the future
Brewster, NY, August 6, 2007—Announcing his four-part vision for the Town of Southeast today, Brewster Mayor John Degnan has laid down the gauntlet for the Republican Primary. In a campaign for Town Supervisor in which he has been subject to a series of inflammatory accusations, Degnan is stepping above the fray by introducing a step-by-step plan of what can be accomplished under new leadership.
Mayor Degnan says, “The Town of Southeast needs more than vitriol and bile to go forward; it needs a workable plan. I love this community, and in the eleven years I have been in public service I have accomplished a great deal for the Village of Brewster. Now, I want to address the major issues facing the Town of Southeast. ”
If elected Town Supevisor, Mayor Degnan plans to develop local capability to enforce Federal Immigration Laws. In the area of budgetary responsibility, he intends to maximize the efficiency of every tax dollar collected. In order to enhance property values, he plans on building an economic base of high-quality businesses. He also wants to rectify the separation that has existed between Town and Village and forge a new relationship between them in order to deliver government that reflects the will of the people.
“My opponents are attempting to control the political arena through name-calling,” said Degnan. “Because they don’t have a plan, they can only hope that negative campaigning alone will help them win the election. I, on the other hand, have a great deal of faith in the intelligence and wisdom of our voters, who I believe will be able to see where their true interests lie.”
